ARTIST STATEMENT
In this work, I focus on moments that develop within learned and reactionary responses
within varied subject matter. The varied themes in this body of work range from studies within
flocks and herds and the migration patterns therein, battle plans and attack formations, landscape
studies stemming from ukiyo-e Japanese woodblocks and investigations of the circus. I investigate
reflections and extensions of moments that I see as a combination of visual navigation. There
fragmentation in the work derives from a selective way of gathering information within the process
of visual acuity, the paths and tracking of.
My influences range from early Renaissance to contemporary. My work gathers from
numerous origins driven by interactions. The interest into the makeup of the circus experience stems
from Alexander Calder’s work exploring the circus, from 1926-31.
